Yutong was born and raised in Xiamen, China. Before transferring to UIUC, he engaged in total synthesis under the supervision of Prof. Henry N.C. Wong and Prof. Xiaoshui Peng. He also spent a summer in Bertrand’s group at UCSD, working on stabilized radicals. In Fall 2026, he joined Denmark’s group as an undergraduate researcher. He enjoys swimming at leisure.
