I was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia, where I spent my childhood playing hockey and going downhill skiing. I then moved to Calgary, Alberta where I finished highschool and completed my B.Sc. in chemistry at the University of Calgary. At this time I developed a fondness for organic chemistry and decided to pursue a career in the field. I ended up completing a Ph.D. at the University of Saskatchewan in the lab of Dr. Michel Gravel, where I prepared hyacinthacine A1 using a photooxygenation-amine cyclization strategy. I also prepared various novel aromatic [10]annulenes during this time.
My professional interests include organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, computational chemistry and chemoinformatics.
When I have spare time I love to play guitar or listen to music.
